bookmarking

I read this weeks lesson and planned just to look at the various site. When I saw the things that the bookmarking sites could do, I was impressed. I signed up for Delicious and bookmarked a few sites. If we traveled a lot or if I belonged to groups that were internet savvy, I can see great uses. I will ask on the sewing list that I belong to if any of them belong to Delicious.

I signed up for google reader because I thought that wouldn't take long and wouldn't be complicated. It was quite easy! I signed up for a topic from Medline (that was used in an example) and from NPR. I looked at a few other sites, but didn't find the RSS feed available. I will look for more, but other things are calling now.

I thought I would try posting a picture. This is one we may put on our brochure.

Flickr

I signed up for a Flickr account and uploaded a few pictures. I think that I will like this! I plan to store and organize pictures on line. I also like that I can share pictures with relatives that may be interested in having copies. That is much more convenient than emailing everyone with attachments.

webinars

I signed up for a webinar a few weeks ago, but a change of plans took me out of town. I listened to the archived webinar. It was hosted by NSDAR to instruct members on filling out the Master Questionnaire and was quite helpful. I anticipate using webinars often in the future for convenience and for saving time and money. I also like that I can listen again.
I tried an archived webinar on Wimba, but had trouble with it. I am using an iMac and think--at some point--I may try it on our PC. I jotted down the schedule for several Opal webinars that sound interesting, and I plan to listen to at least one.
